Day 4 - Phoenix, AZ

We started out early today - with the help of several train whistles at 6am - in hopes that we'd be able to get one of the few RV parking spots at Slide Rock State Park near Sedona. For some reason at the turn off to Sedona Az 89A, there was a big sign stating, "no trucks over 50 feet." Hmmm...did they mean us - a mere 5 ft over that restriction? Apparently Greg thought so because he didn't make the turn off, explaining that those signs are there for a reason. However, next thing I knew, he was making a u-turn and giving it a go! We crossed our fingers and prayed it was nothing like Old Priest Grade - a steep shortcut to Yosemite we used to take in our pre-trailer lives. The road was windy with 15 mph limits. Fortunately we were going down the pass. And even more fortunately, we had no problems making it through! The pay off was worth it - the area is gorgeous!

We spent the next couple hours enjoying the unique adventure at Slide Rock. The red rock bed of Oak Creek forms a natural water slide with pools. Oh yeah, and the water is just a wee bit chilly ~63 degrees.

Interestingly enough, right after we arrived, 4 large matching motorhomes pulled in with their huge camera crew (~50 people) and took over Slide Rock. Apparently they're filming a reality show "All American Road Trip," airing on NBC July 7. We're not sure what the premise of the show is, but only 4 of the 7 original families remained. Look for us when they air the Slide Rock show - Greg, Chris and Kate were standing near the kids (being filmed) - waiting for their turn on the slide.

Next we continued to our final destination - Scottsdale - to visit with Greg's Uncle Jim and Aunt Arlene. We had a very enjoyable and relaxing evening catching up (and swimming) with them and their dog Nickels. Chris had a surprise too as an old friend from Gallardo, Alex Arnold, came over to play. We stayed the night, and left our trailer at nearby Westworld Equestrian Center's RV lot. As we were getting into bed, Jeremy texted us (from the bedroom next to us) to say, "We need to come here more often."
